BSNL gives away 5GB of free data to customers transferring from existing network
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will give away 5GB of 4G data free of charge to customers who switch to a state-owned telecommunications network from an existing service provider. Free data will be valid for 30 days. The new offer is intended to help BSNL expand its domestic user base. Users switching to BSNL need to share their reasons for the move on social media and submit proof to the service provider for additional data benefits.
Free data offer for newbies BSNL customers are valid until January 15, as announced on Twitter. The carrier says the free 5GB data will be valid for 30 days or until the expiration of the current plan, whichever is earlier.
Follow nice version of the offer, the user must switch to BSNL from an existing carrier using portability of cell phone numbers (MNP) to take advantage of data benefits. The operator also asked new customers to share the reason for switching along with the hashtag #SwitchToBSNL on Twitter and Facebook. Furthermore, subscribers who are moving into BSNL need to tag BSNL and follow the operator on social media platforms.
Once shared, BSNL noted in the terms and conditions that users should share a screenshot of their tweet or post and send it to the telco via direct message or via WhatsApp at 9457086024 with their respective mobile numbers.
Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of India (MALE) in its recent report found that BSNL lost more than 23,000 subscribers in October last year. The operator also retains market share 9.73 percent, no increase compared to September.
Earlier this week, BSNL started Offers 90 days of additional validity with its Rs. Prepaid package of 2,399 recharges to celebrate the New Year. Telecommunications also started recently Eros Now subscription package with all its postpaid plans.
