California Offers Free Meals to School Children, “We Did It First,” Indians Say
Healthy and nutritious foods are essential for school-going children. The importance of a good quality meal cannot be denied, especially during the growing and learning years. Aware of this fact, the state of California has initiated a new Universal Meal Program starting in the 2022-23 school year. Under the new law, children in kindergarten through 12th grade in California, USA will be provided with free breakfast and lunch regardless of their socioeconomic status. It is the first state to introduce such a children’s meal program in the United States. While California’s popular meal program has received some high ratings, Indian users on Reddit were quick to point out that the Mid-Day Meal program has been around in the country since the mid-1980s or early 1980s. 1990.
