Canelo vs. Golovkin III: Alvarez “could be burned” Sergio Mora says
Via Sean Jones: Sergio Mora questions whether 32-year-old Canelo Alvarez could suffer from “exhaustion” when he joins his trio battle next month against Gennadiy Golovkin on September 17 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas or not.
Canelo was shamefully about to lose to Dmitry Bivol last May in a match where he didn’t come close to the ridiculously terrible score of 115-113 x 3 assigned by the team of referees assigned to the match in Las Vegas.
At best, Canelo won two innings, and he looked one-sided & aged from the opening bell. After 17 years of boxing professionally, Canelo can be exhausted from all the fights he’s been through over the years.
Sean Jones saw signs of wear and tear as Canelo battled two badly flawed champions, Billy Joe Saunders & Caleb Plant. Although Canelo scored stoppage-time goals in both games, those were tough games for him and he didn’t take over until they were all gone.
“As for the Xs and Os and who wins the war, no, it doesn’t change. I still support Canelo, and I will support Canelo maybe even with extra time,” Sergio Mora told. Fighthypeabout the September 17 trio match between Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin.
“What makes everything so interesting is Canelo is about to lose. Canello is so bitter about Golovkin, and they knew each other too well. Golovkin is winning and he won’t have to sacrifice to get to 160. He could be stronger and bigger at 168.
“They felt each other’s strength. That fight ended in a knockout, and both of them have the power to end it in a knockout. Of course, I will support Canelo, but I will not completely abolish Golovkin.
“Golovkin is still a monster and is only technically inferior to Canelo. A lot of people think he didn’t even lose that. You can’t just say, ‘Well, he’s 40.’ Scratch that.
“Golovkin is one of those guys who is still strong, can still hit a big punch, lives a clean lifestyle and is having some impressive wins. So that’s the impetus going his way.
“For Canelo, maybe it’s the flip side. He’s been fighting since he was 15, he’s about to lose, injuries can catch up with him, and he may be exhausted.
Mora said: “You can flip that coin in many ways, but I’m excited because the trio ends in a knockout and we get a knockout in this one.
