Via Sean Jones: Canelo Alvarez coach/manager Eddy Reynoso says reports from yesterday about them agreeing to a fight deal with Eddie Hearn and DAZN are untrue. According to Reynoso, negotiations are still ongoing.
Likewise, Hearn says that reports of Canelo being offered $85 million are inaccurate.
This is good news for boxing fans hoping to see Canelo (57-1-2, 39 KOs) Jermall Charlo followed by Sean Jones. Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) is a concerned boxer, and there will be plenty of interest in the fight between Canelo and him.
PBC is said to be offering Canelo a one-on-one deal $45 million for him to face Jermall Charlo on May 7.
The two-fight deal that ESPN’s Mike Coppinger talked about Wednesday is said to be valid 85 million dollars against Canelo against WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol on May 7 and Gennadiy Golovkin on September 17.
In an interview earlier on Thursday, Hearn did not deny the existence of a fight deal for Canelo to face Bivol and Golovkin. Hearn said negotiations are ongoing.

“We are talking. Those are the two matches we gave Canelo Alvarez,” Hearn said Thursday in an interview with iFLTV when asked if there was any validity to reports of a two-way deal for Canelo.
“Coppinger texted me about 20 times, saying, ‘I heard it from four different people.’ You can hear it from me. NO deal is done, we are just talking. I’m sure he [Canelo] talk to everyone else.
“We had a great opportunity and proposal for him, but it was up to Eddy Reynoso and Saul to decide what they wanted to do. It’s an honor to represent him again.
“It would be great to bring him back to DAZN and we’ll see what happens. No, they are NOT right,“Hearn said when asked if the $85 million offer from him and DAZN for the Canelo’stwo-battle deal was accurate.
“I mean, look, he’s the number one star in the pound, he’s the biggest star in boxing. Obviously, we wanted to be as aggressive as possible with our proposal,” Hearn said of his offer to Canelo.
Reynoso did not say if there are any other offers on the table for Canelo’s next fight than the two currently available.
We know David Benavidez and his father Jose Sr. went to great lengths for a fight with Canelo, and that would show the superstar’s immense fortitude in the face of him.
Many boxing fans claim that Canelo subdued Benavidez for many years so as not to lose to the lion cub.
Either way, Canelo will have to face a quality opponent on May 7. The only thing we don’t know is whether he will face Bivol (19-0, 11 KOs) or Jermall Charlo on that day.
It would be a huge leap in class for Canelo to go up against either of those fighters compared to the opposition he’s been facing since late 2018.
After Canelo’s rematch with Golovkin in 2018, which many boxing fans felt he had lost, he withdrew from the fight against elite-level opponents by focusing on facing opponents. belt holder, older fighters and his former fighting partner.
