Country star Naomi Judd dies aged 76
The world of country music has lost an icon.
Naomi Juddpart of the Grammy Award winning duo The Judds, has died. She was 76 years old. Her daughters Wynonna Judd57 years old — her singer and actress Ashley Judd54 years old, announced his death on April 30.
“We sisters experienced a tragedy today. We lost our beautiful mother to mental illness,” read the sibling’s statement posted on Ashley’s social media. “We are broken. We are seeking deep grief and know that when we loved her, she was loved by the public. We are in an unknown territory.”
Naomi is also survived by her husband, Larry Stricklanda fellow singer who used to sing backup for Elvis Presley. The two will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary next week.
Naomi died the day before The Judds were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on May 1. On April 11, the duo announced they planned to begin their final tour in September. , this will be their first concert series since 2011. Also that day, The Judds performed on stage at the 2022 CMT Music Awards.
