DaBaby and Roddy Ricch sued for alleged copyright infringement over their 2020 megahit, Rockstar
Music’s latest major copyright war has arrived.
American rappers DaBaby (Jonathan Lyndale Kirk) and Roddy Ricch (Rodrick Wayne Moore) have been sued for infringing on their 2020 hit. Rock star.

The Florida-based producer argued that he “made several attempts to resolve this matter without litigation, but those efforts were unsuccessful due to Respondent’s unwillingness to cooperate or accept responsibility for blatant and willful copyright infringement”.
He further stated that he had “no choice but to take this action to remedy and prevent Defendant’s willful conduct which is causing continued harm”.
The suit adds: “The defendants directly infringed on Plaintiff’s copyright by copying, distributing, performing, displaying and creating derivative works of the musical ‘Selena’. of Plaintiff violates the Copyright Act.
“Defends have instigated, caused, or substantially contributed to Plaintiffs’ copyright infringement, including by allowing them to further create, distribute, and perform the infringing song ‘Rockstar’, and under Accordingly, the Respondents shall be held legally responsible for such breach.
“All defendants benefited financially from the distribution of the infringing musical work ‘Rockstar’.”
The legal action marks the latest high-profile copyright infringement lawsuit involving a superstar artist and marks the second naming of Roddy Ricch in the past week alone.
