At the end of a Very bad week for Herschel Walker, The Daily Show Host Trevor Noah delved into the Republican reaction to the “walking Maury Povich episode” currently running for Senate in Georgia. And he absolutely couldn’t believe what he found.
Describing Walker as “one of the biggest champions” for a complete ban on abortion in the US, Noah said it was “a bit awkward” when The Daily Beast break the story about him paying his ex-girlfriend — and the mother of one of his children—For their abortion. And in response to Walker say on Thursday that “if” he paid for the abortion it would be “nothing to be ashamed of”, the presenter said, “I agree with him, it is not…unless you are known to be anti-abortion!”
“Now it’s clear that Herschel Walker is willing to run on a platform he doesn’t really trust,” added Noah. “But what’s surprising is that Republicans feel the same way.”
After playing clips of characters like Newt Gingrich and Dana Loesch defending Walker’s actions with the most damning hypocrisy, Noah replied, “You have to like it when they say it out loud: Abortion is completely unforgivable — unless I need to do it.”
What these conservatives are saying, explains Noah, is “You can have an abortion if you need to win the Senate race, but you’re not okay with a woman who needs it to save her own life.” .”
In the end, Noah marvels at how Republicans can “forgive certain people” but when it comes to prison rehab or college debt, “suddenly they’re like, ‘Everybody has to pay. price for what they did, it’s the consequences in life. ‘”
