Meta offers royalty-free music library to Instagram Reels advertisers
After seeing 30% more engagement with Stories on both Instagram and Facebook In Q2, parent company Meta is now offering royalty-free music to advertisers to use in Reel ads.
Meta announced update in a release on Tuesday (October 4).
“Sound is also an important factor in driving Reels engagement. To make it easier for businesses to create Stories ads, we’re rolling out free, high-quality songs from our Meta Audio Collection that can be added to Stories Carousel Ads ,” said Meta.
Advertisers can choose a song from Meta’s library or let the app choose a track that best matches a song based on its content. They can also allow Meta’s Ads Manager to automatically select the best tracking for an ad according to the ad’s content.
The development follows Meta’s latest revenue sharing agreement with major brands including Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group that allows labels and artists to receive a share of the revenue from using licensed music on creator posts on Facebook.
Meta has yet to reveal whether a revenue-sharing agreement will apply to Reels.
Meta will launch a test run of repeatable Facebook ads that can be skipped after 4-10 seconds and stand-alone video ads that play after a reel has ended. The initial scroll will continue and repeat when the ad finishes playing.
Additionally, Meta will be testing image carousel ads for Stories that can scroll horizontally and include 2 to 10 image ads that show up at the bottom of a Facebook Story asset.
For Instagram Stories, Meta Ads Manager will allow users to manually apply music by selecting up to five songs. The ad manager will use a song from one of the selected tracks when serving the ad. Advertisers can preview five songs from the recommendation algorithm when creating an ad, although it is not possible to predict which songs will be applied to the ad at the time of delivery.
However, the addition of royalty-free music to ads on Reels does not apply to existing posts, dynamic creative optimization, custom placements, or posts using Meta Creative Hub. This feature is only available on Instagram Reels Carousel Ads at this time.
This feature is just among a few other new tools that Meta has roll out on Tuesdays for businesses using its platform.Worldwide music business
