David Avanesyan insists he doesn’t fight easily for Crawford
Via Knitting Ambrosio: David Avanesyan says Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford was not an easy fight as he defended his WBO weightlifting title against him on BLK Prime pay-per-view on Dec. 10 at the Medical Center CHI in Omaha, Nebraska.
The world of boxing is not allowing 6 WBO ranked Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KOs) to create an upset against the undefeated Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) in this bout.
Other fans wondered why Avanesyan, 34, had been chosen as Crawford’s opponent in the first place against BLK Prime PPV because the match had little chance of garnering many buys.
Crawford is not a PPV fighter and has an eight figure purse [$10 million+] If he’s going to join this fight, then a more famous fighter is needed.
Crawford and Avanesyan share a common rivalry in Egidijus Kavaliauskas. Avanesyan was stopped by Kavaliauskas after six rounds in 2016, while Terence knocked him out in nine rounds in 2019.
“This is a big opportunity for me, a big opportunity. I deserve this fight,” David Avanesyan told fight TV center about the title match against WBO welterweight champion Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford on December 10.
“My manager called me and said, ‘Crawford’ and I said, ‘Yes.’ I do not think. I said, ‘Yes, I want this fight.’ This is a good fight. This is not an easy fight for Terence for fans who understand boxing.
“American fans see that I lost to Egidijus Kavaliauskas and he lost to Crawford. I am a quality fighter. I’m 34 years old. I’m focusing on this fight.
“I need to win this war. There is a good chance. I’m happy. I show first six times.
“Kavaliauskas after fighting me, he [fought to a] painting [against Ray Robinson. This guy, Josh Kelly fought. If you ask me, Kelly won that fight. I stopped Kelly in the sixth round. I showed people I’m a different fighter.
“My focus is December 10th against Terence Crawford. You know Terence Crawford is a good fighter, and I know he’s a good fighter. Many boxing fans know he’s a good fighter. This is good for me.
“This is a good chance for David Avanesyan. On December 10th. I need to give everything and take everything. After Crawford, I want to see David and Spence fight.
“They [BLK Prime] called me and asked if I wanted to fight Crawford. This fight is ready to go in two days. Why do you think Spence-Crawford doesn’t fight? For money.
“I don’t think about the money for this war. This is a big war. This is a great opportunity. I said earlier that ‘I want to hit big.’ Yes, Crawford is a good fighter.
“I am in good shape. I need a big fight. I’m 34 years old, and I have 33 battles. This is a good time. David’s hand is a good punch. Do not forget. Yeah, Crawford’s been down before.
“I thought about how I need to win this war. My surprise on December 10th was that I gave everything away. I do my best, and I understand this is a big fight. I believe I can win. I give everything now.
“I want to fight a good fighter. I deserve this fight. This is a big war. Kavaliauskas is a powerful guy. He can punch, and he knocked Crawford down. Kavaliauskas waited too long.
“If he makes ten million, well done. Why not? Boxing is a difficult sport. Now I won’t say anything that surprises me. I do my best to enter the ring and give my best in this fight.
“I don’t think about a KO. When you only think about knockout, it’s not possible. It can; I take my time,” Avanesyan said.
