David Morrell Predicts Aidos Yerbossynuly’s 8th Round
Via Jim Calfa: WBA super-middleweight champion David Morrell predicts an eighth knockout round against mandatory Aidos Yerbossynuly in their exciting competition in the main event this Saturday, November 5.
Outstanding former Cuban amateur boxer Morrell (7-0.6 KOs) will battle 30-year-old Kazakh boxer Yerbossynuly (16-0, 11 KOs) in SHOWTIME Championship Boxing at 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT at The Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In theory, this is a step up in competition for 24-year-old Morrell, but it could turn out to be as one-sided as all of his previous seven games. Yerbossynuly is giving Morrell a lot of hand speed and stamina.
It will be difficult for him to overcome the advantages that Morrell has in this teamfight. Yerbossynuly has a lot of punching power, but it will take a perfect hit so he can hurt Morrell enough to get him out of there.
“I feel bad for Aidos. He doesn’t know what’s going on,” WBA super-middleweight champion David Morrell said of challenger Aidos Yerbossynuly during Thursday’s final press conference.
“I want to fight David Benavidez in my next fight. 100% is me to the knockout. He’s the one asking for it. I’m predicting a knockout in round of 16. “
There’s a good chance that Morrell will fight Benavidez if the two of them fight successfully. Benavidez (26-0, 23 KOs) will face Caleb Plant in the first quarter of next year, and no one knows who will win that fight.
If Benavidez loses to Plant, it’s unlikely that Morrell will still face him. Plant probably wouldn’t mind fighting Morrell as he might need to get him the rematch with Canelo Alvarez he was asking for.
“We are at home now. I’m going to go in there and win,” said Morrell.
“I appreciate Aidos entering this fight, but now is the time to show what I can do. I will show the rest of the department what is available to them,” said Morrell.
This was an introductory match for Morrell to show off his boxing skills to fans who had never seen him before and send a message to the top boxers at 168.
“I’m a hunter, and I’m here to hunt Morrell on Saturday night and take that belt home,” Yerbossynuly said.
