Delhi Metro launches native-developed simulator in conjunction with BHEL to train metro riders
Delhi Metro has launched the first prototype of its ‘Made in India’ simulator for driver training – in a step towards defining the technologies involved in metro operations in the country. In this regard, metro operator Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in association with state engineering manufacturing company Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has launched the first prototype of a rolling stock driver training system native vehicle (RSDTS).
Delhi Metro authorities also demonstrated the workings of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system, which is being developed as an asset and equipment monitoring system to streamline operations. routine maintenance, manpower requirements and spare parts management.
As part of the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, DMRC and BEL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in September 2020 to develop a locomotive driver training system – efficient Useful for training railway or subway train drivers.
The system will also be used to assess the driving skills of on-duty train operators, periodically for safety reasons. It will be the first domestically developed universal train driving simulator that can be properly modified for any Metro or Railway system, according to a statement by Delhi Metro.
The system being developed locally has the basis of the same core software used to generate different combinations of locomotive, signal and line configurations, by varying the input data files. in, along with minor hardware changes in the driver’s desk, if needed. This will enhance the flexibility of the training system and can mainly lead to cost savings, as the same system can be used for many different stocks and routes.
