Devin Haney & Tank Davis Trash Talking
Via Dan Ambrose: Lightweight champion Devin Haney and Gervonta ‘The Tank’ Davis talk trash on social media today.
Tank’s comments Wednesday about Haney trying to be like him appear to have been the catalyst for the release of battle dogs from the North’s native California.
After Haney called out Tank, he lit up in what he is today about 27 years old, holding a Mickey Mouse belt [WBA secondary lightweight strap]and the best name on his nine-year résumé is Jose Pedraza from back in 2017.
Tank countered that he made 5 times more money than Haney, and was treated as if he were the one with all the belts rather than vice versa. Again, Tank accused Haney of trying to be like him.
Of course, all this trash talk could be fixed if Tank (27-0.25 KOs) simply agreed to fight Haney (28-0.15 KOs) because Gervonta made no sense when against the likes of Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Ryan Garcia for the chance to contest the undisputed title against Devin.
“Why do they pay me 5 times more than you, like I have all the belts? One more thing, stop trying to be me, idiot. People are starting to notice,” Gervonta Davis told Devin Haney on social media.
Now go to the store… and get some belts🤪

It’s funny how he has so much to say after my fight was announced but isn’t he the cat-like saying he will fight me next if I defeat the kambosos? ? After the battle, we didn’t hear sh * t

Three of the four fighters you mentioned have battle schedules in October or December – making them unable to fight the Tanks in December – and the Tank team is in discussions with the fourth.
So what exactly is Tank doing wrong now? Oh, sorry, you’re just trolling, aren’t you? https://t.co/s0vT3JjKTj– Stephen Espinoza (@StephenEspinoza) September 1, 2022
Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza didn’t say who they were negotiating with on behalf of Davis Tanks for his December battle, but it didn’t take genius to guess that it was Ryan Garcia. While it was a good money-making match for the Tank, it wasn’t a match that won him world titles.
Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs) has never fought for a world title, although he has had a chance to fight for the title. The golden boy promoted to Kingry is an unproven boxer who has come this far by hunting and fighting old boxers worn at the store.
Ryan has never competed against anyone with talent and he is where he is today thanks to his huge following on Instagram and YouTube.
Tank would get a lot more credibility if he fought Haney, Teofimo Lopez, or Vasyl Lomachenko in December instead of Ryan Garcia. Those will be tough fights for Tank, and he could lose. That could be why he is expected to take on Ryan Garcia as he is not a threat.
