Devin Haney to Rolando Romero: ‘Don’t mention my name’
Via Jim Calfa: Devin Haney took to social media on Tuesday to warn Rolando Romero to stop mentioning his name. One way for Haney to get Rolando to stop talking about himself was to defend his 135-lb WBC belt against him.
The undefeated Rolando, who was once known by the nickname ‘Rolly’, shot WBC lightweight champion Haney (27-0, 15 KOs) on Youtube, mocking him about his lack of punching power and said that he is”weakest link” of the 135 lb champions.
Rolando Romero said: “I got a really, really important message, but Devin Haney didn’t know anything.
In what appears to be a reaction from Haney to Rolando’s latest attack on social media, he said this on Twitter today:
Rolly is a tree jumper who told him not to mention my name…

The “Jumping Tree” is slang for sex offenders. This appears to be Haney who shot Romero based on sex allegations that surfaced last December.
The ensuing investigation into the sexual assault allegations resulted in 26-year-old Romero being cleared on Monday. ESPN reported that the Henderson Police Department in Nevada cleared Rolando of the crime.
Unfortunately for Rolando, he was carded from December 5 last month against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis for their championship team on SHOWTIME PPV at the Staples Center in Las Vegas.
Promoters have replaced Rolando with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. Deleting the card caused Romero to pay a day’s salary that could reach millions of dollars.
On Instagram, Rolando posted late this Monday night:
“The false accusations, the missed opportunity, the deception of my dreams and the loss of a huge amount of fortune, the investigation into the allegations against me has officially ended,” Rolando said. Roland said. The charges were not filed because the charges could not be proven because, as I always claim, I am innocent. “
Despite missing out on a lucrative fight with Tank Davis, Rolando still has a great chance to take on him in the summer. Both fighters participate in Mayweather Promotions, which should make it easy to match each other.
In Rolando’s recent fights, he beat these fighters:
- Anthony Yigit
- Avery Sparrow
- Jackson Marinez
- Arturs Ahmetovs
- Juan Carlos Cardones
As for Haney, he has a great opportunity to face undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr in May in a match in Australia. Kambosos calls Haney one of the few warriors he’s considering for his next battle.
