EA makes fun of single-player games – Internet doesn’t respond well
A joke made by EA’s official Twitter account that mocked single-player games didn’t work in the company’s favor – and the internet’s reaction forced the company to address its mistake.
Starting with a popular meme, EA tweeted (below) “they’re 10 but they just love playing single-player games”. The tweet itself is a bit odd, as EA itself has published a lot of single player games including Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderand The Sims 4but what began as perhaps a poorly chosen joke escalated as the post gained traction.
Twitter users, including the head EA’s Respawn Entertainment Vince Zampella, YouTuber Jacksepticeyeand Game Award Host Geoff Keighley all were shared in disparagement in the answers, while many others mocked and criticized the EA in retaliation.
Rang very well deserved. We’ll consider this an L because playing single-player games actually makes them 11. https://t.co/PNg4FKOgfB

Several tweets compared Jedi Fallen Order to EA’s multiplayer Star Wars game, Battlefront II – which was heavily criticized when it was launched for its microtransactions and loot box system – while others point out that EA recently announced a Dead Space remake (single player) and (another single player game) Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
10,000 almost negative quote tweets and almost 9,000 replies have led EA itself to admit the mistake. Four hours after the original post, the company tweeted: “Roast well deserved. We’ll consider this an L because playing single-player games really makes them 11.”
