Eddie Hearn Says This Is Not The End For Dillian Whyte
Via Jack Tiernan: Dillian Whyte’s disappointing loss to Tyson Fury isn’t the end of ‘The Body Snatcher’. Promoter Eddie Hearn believes Whyte (28-3, 19 KOs) can bounce back from his loss to Fury and still claim the world title at heavyweight.

Whyte made over $7 million for the fight against Fury, and he was already a rich man before the fight. As long as the money doesn’t quench his hunger, he should be able to quickly get back to fighting for another world title.
Hearn says that as titles start to fragment, Whyte will be in a position to be a highly-rated candidate to go after one of them. Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) has said he will vacate.
As long as 34-year-old Whyte is not pushed too far down the rankings, he will soon be capable of fighting for a world title.
Take Deontay Wilder as an example of that. He lost his last two fights to Fury by knockout, and he’s ranked #2 with WBC.
Fury 6’9″ is adamant that he will “NEVER” returns to the sport, and will instead put all of his energy into showtime and WWE matches.
“We all know it’s well documented that it was a great paydayhe made a lot of money, but he was still able to get into some great battles,” Eddie Hearn told DAZN Boxing Show about Dillian Whyte.
The amount of money Whyte earns fighting Fury is small compared to what he will earn if he defeats the ‘King of Gypsy’. Whyte not only adds $4.1 million in prize money to its $7.4 million base, but also has the chance to battle the winner of the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2.
Fury seems serious about not wanting a rematch, and his $33 million to successfully defend his title against Whyte may have something to do with his decision not to proceed. If Fury only has $50 in his bank account, it’s safe to say he won’t retire.
“Can he go on and win the world championship? Maybe when the dust settles and all these belts will fragmenthe’s a very good heavyweight,” Hearn continued about Whyte.
What Whyte needs is to be more active with his career if he wants to be in high form. Last night’s fight with Fury was only Dillian’s third fight in the past three years, and he’s only fought 15 rounds in that time.
The next thing is that it’s impossible for a boxer to stay as sharp as Whyte had, which must have been a factor in making him look short of breath early on.
“Mindset is everything and he got it wrong in that fight,” says Hearn.
“Dillian Whyte Boxed AJ [in 2015], that guy is a terrible mother. Back then if Tyson Fury tickled him during the press conference, Dillian would clear him out of sight,” Hearn said.
