Elon Musk Calls Mark Zuckerberg a ‘Cuck’ as Threads Nears 100M Users
Elon Musk continues to lash out at Mark Zuckerberg as Meta’s Twitter clone, Threads, hits 100 million users.
Since the new platform launched last week, Musk has been highly critical of Threads, Instagram’s newest companion app and a direct competitor to Twitter. Over the past few days, the Tesla CEO and owner of the besieged social networking site has been monitoring Threads features and even filed a lawsuit accusing Meta of poaching ex-Twitter employees to create a “mimic” app.
But on Sunday, the attack was simpler.
“Zuck is an asshole,” Musk tweeted under a screenshot of the Thread exchange between Zuckerberg and the fast food company Wendy’s account, referring to a sexual fetish in which someone likes to watch a partner their fornication with others.
It’s the latest attack from the billionaire, who has spent the past week criticizing Zuckerberg’s personal history and the concept behind Threads. Musk even at one point challenged his opponent to a mixed martial arts match.
On Saturday, he called Threads “Instagram-only minus the photos, which makes no sense, since thirst-quenching photos are the main reason people use that app.”
Zuckerberg has also unleashed his fair share of jabs — albeit a little more modestly. He tweeted for the first time in 11 years on Threads launch day. It’s a meme about two spiders pointing at each other, drawing a stark resemblance between Threads and Twitter.
He’s also responded to more than a few of Musk’s mocking Topics posts — including the aforementioned Wendy’s post.
Despite the billionaire beef, Zuckerberg still has plenty to brag about. Threads has more than 98 million users less than a week after launch, according to data from Quiver Quantitative.
However, Musk’s Twitter still leads with an estimated 368 million Twitter users worldwide as of December 2022, each Statistical staff.
Whether the strange beef, fueled by Musk and Zuckerberg’s social networks is just a fun joke or stiff competition remains to be seen.
Both show their openness to the MMA fight Musk is aiming for — at least according to UFC President Dana White, who claims to have spoken to both men and estimated possible revenue generated from the match up to a billion dollars.
“100 percent [they want to fight],” White said earlier this week. “I do [have a date in mind], I’ll let you know when we’re ready. It won’t be UFC 300.”
