Employees of Vernon business help chase down accused robber
One VernonBC, the man accused of robbing a store on 27th Street, was on Monday behind bars awaiting trial, largely by store employees.
The RCMP said it was around 12:15 p.m. when a business in the 5600 block of 27th Street reported that a man was attempting to leave the retail store with unpaid merchandise.
The RCMP said in a press release: “The suspect allegedly manufactured a knife when stopped by an officer and then fled on a bicycle.
“Staff monitored the man from a safe distance and provided updates on his location to frontline officers who identified and arrested him.”
Craig Alan Leamon, 42, has been charged with robbery and resisting arrest. He remains in custody and is expected to appear in court late Tuesday.
