England’s Harry Kane is set to have his ankle checked on Wednesday
Doha, Qatar — England suffered a considerable fear of trauma after it appeared Harry Kane will conduct a scan of his right ankle on Wednesday, sources have told ESPN.
The 29-year-old was substituted with 14 minutes left in Monday’s 6-2 win Iran after receiving a rough tackle from Morteza Pouraliganji early in the second half and was photographed with a leash as he left the Khalifa International Stadium.

Although manager Gareth Southgate insisted Kane was “fine” after the game, sources have confirmed that the England captain will undergo a test on Wednesday.
At this stage, it’s not clear whether the scan is preventative or a consequence of Kane feeling more uncomfortable. England held a light warm-up at their Al Wakrah training facility on Tuesday, in which the players who had played the day before against Iran were absent.
The Tottenham forward has a history of ankle ligament injuries, having suffered them during both the 2018 and 2019 Premier League campaigns.
Kane has scored 51 goals in 76 appearances for the national team and needs two more to match Wayne Rooney’s England goalscoring record.
He won the Golden Boot when England reached the semi-finals in Russia four years ago but failed to score against Iran.
In other British news, James Maddison went missing again as he recovered from an ankle problem while Callum Wilsonwho came on as a substitute for Kane, skipped the outdoor training session to focus on the gym.
Harry Maguire is also being monitored after being substituted due to illness.
