Good food and drink accompanies every tournament – we mull over delicious food while cheering on our favorite teams. Monkey Bar in Vasant Kunj, Delhi is one of the most frequented by sports lovers across the capital city. The restaurant is offering a special menu with delicious regional dishes, chilled cocktails and a lively atmosphere to watch all the matches during the cricket season.
Monkey Bar’s Pavilion 2.0 is a limited edition menu inspired by the state or city of each team you can cheer for this cricket season. Be it Rajasthan or Punjab, Kolkata or Delhi – there’s a dish dedicated to every team. At first glance Monkey Bar makes it clear that this is not your usual restaurant. Built inside a sprawling green patch, the eatery is shaped like a glass pyramid in the French Louvre. Wooden finishes, quirky decorative elements, live TV screenings, billiards and foosball tables complete the vibrant and sporty atmosphere.
We started our meal with Rajasthani Royal Pithore – a delicious snack that is crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside and a highly recommended option on the menu. It is served on a bed of signature chickpea masala, topped with sweet yogurt and tamarind chutney. Next on our list is Titans of Dabeli – a Gujarati inspired treat featuring the flavors of Dabeli inside a crispy pastry. Baklava-filo sheets are stuffed with masala and tamarind potatoes, edamame, and truffles topped with melted cheese, mixed garlic, fig and chutney apples, cashews, pomegranates, and Sev.

In the main course, we sampled Taco time out from Delhi. Braised lamb is topped with onions and tomatoes in this open taco preparation, served with korma sauce on the side. The food was extremely satisfying and blew all our cravings away. We also tried Masala Podu from Chennai – Crispy Masala Puri stuffed with spiced Bhalla green beans. Similar to Raj Kachori chaat, this nutritious dish is a delight for street food lovers like us!
