The pandemic has prompted countless companies to move to the cloud. By 2025, partly driven by demand for digital services, 85% of businesses will use cloud-based principles, follow to Gartner. But the transition isn’t always easy. In a recent MuleSoft survey84% of organizations say that data and application integration challenges are hindering their digital transformation and, in other words, their adoption of cloud platforms.
Driven to meet demand, software engineer Nir Livneh founded Equalum, a startup that provides software that integrates with existing infrastructure for data processing and transformation, including streaming data. Equalum can collect, transform and synchronize data, move data in real time or in batches from devices and apps to AI systems, data lake and Data warehouse.
Prior to co-founding Equalum, Livneh was a full stack developer in the US Army and led the product management team at Quest Software (acquired by Dell in 2012). He also co-founded SET Systems, an IT consulting firm focused on data analytics.
“Over the years, Livneh has found that many organizations are finding it difficult to manage their data integration needs. The work is done manually using different tools which makes their environment a lot more complicated and in most cases the data transferred is based on historical data rather than data. real-time data,” Guy Eilon, CEO of Equalum, told TechCrunch in an email interview. Equalum manages data pipelines, leveraging open source packages, including Apache Spark and Kafka for streaming and batch data processes. The platform enables the creation of data pipeline “logic” using a drag-and-drop interface, including triggers that modify data at the source, perform computations on the data, correlate data with third-party sources. third and filter, lookup and enrich data.
In this way, Equalum is no different from startups like Striim and StreamSets, which provide the tools to build data pipelines on hybrid (i.e., hybrid) cloud and cloud platforms. on-premises and public cloud infrastructure). Breaking into the industry is clearly difficult – Eilon declined to disclose Equalum’s revenue figures or the size of the startup’s customer base, and Equalum has no plans to hire this year. But he emphasizes the profitability of opportunity. Quote data from Fortune Business Insights, Eilon expects that the market for data integration solutions will be worth $29.16 billion by 2029 – up from $11.94 billion in 2022.
In any case, investors have confidence in Equalum’s growth prospects. The company today closed a $14 million Series C round with contributions from Springtide Ventures — notably, a smaller Series B round by Equalum, totaling $18 million. Eilon says that’s because the board “didn’t want to dilute itself unnecessarily.”
