Experience healthy relaxation at Fig At Malcha – Delhi’s Teen Conscious Café
Café culture is booming in the capital city with the expansion of food service and coffee varieties. New age cafes are overcoming the old image of a tiny enclosure with limited snacking options. The newly opened Fig at Malcha offers a whole new cafe experience with its spacious store in Malcha Marg. After winning hearts with its outpost in Gurugram (Pictured at Museo), Fig at Malcha goes even further in espousing Delhi’s connoisseurs. The unique ‘conscious cafe’ gives healthy eating a whole new meaning with some hearty dishes overlooking a fine dining restaurant.
A fusion of Japanese design and Nordic lifestyle, the cafe features a curated menu based on seasonal produce from local farms, 100% GMO-free meat, cage-free eggs as well as a Parisian in-house bakery offering fresh bread and pastries every morning and evening, and ‘farm-to-cup’ specialty coffees.
My culinary discovery at ‘Fig at Malcha’
I happened to visit the cafe and experience a modern and conscious eco-service never seen before in a relaxed and soothing space. As soon as I entered the cafe, I was invigorated with the minimalist but aesthetically pleasing white interior of the cafe. The two-story layout created a respite from other restaurants we see everywhere.
The menu is extensive, offering something for everyone. From all-day breakfast items, soups and salads to pasta and Thai food – there’s plenty to choose from.
But first things first – coffee! I ordered an Iced Latte and it was a pretty refreshing drink. Then I started my meal with Chicken Won Ton Soup and it was so delicious that I craved more. As a shrimp lover, I had to order Prawns Ceviche. Although it looked and tasted great, I felt the taste of shrimp butter overpowering the dish which I somewhat missed. The salmon carpaccio looks great and tastes even better with the combination of crispy chickpeas and a delicious sauce.
Shepherd’s Pie has given me the pleasure of a comfort meal, as it’s known. The layering of the cake is beautifully done and it doesn’t make my stomach heavy after such a hearty meal. I had to wait a long time for the Lamb Chops to arrive but the way it was plated made me forget about it. The lamb combined with the stir-fried vegetables is delicious. The outer crust of the pork is a bit too crispy but the overall taste in the plate is very good. I ended the meal on a sweet note with Burnt Cheesecake and it can be described in one word – ‘paradise’.
I left with a fuller stomach and a fuller heart. One thing that really excites me is the presentation of all the dishes; Praise the chef for showing his creativity on the plate. I will definitely come back to Fig in Malcha for more.
