“He told me he had a bit of a plan to play a game in the pit. He brought a deck of cards but he was looking for someone to play with. I like this game and I think it’s an idea. thought amusing.”
The mastermind, known as the leonardodecapitator, explained that they had the idea a month and a half ago but that no one in Machine Girl’s Discord wanted to play with. Literally, it was not until five minutes before the duo entered the field that they found a replacement.
But what decks are they playing? “From the 2005 standard format, Zoo and Ghost Dad. [We] like there were five games and the Zoo deck was eliminated,” laughed BMC.When asked if those decks had any particular meaning, they said: “I have a huge weakness for nostalgia.” .
It’s not just the pair of players involved. “Everyone around us was very excited about it and when we were done, everyone helped pick up the cards,” says leonardodecapitator.
The immediate reaction from Twitter was mostly positive, people either planning to do this themselves or wishing that Yu-Gi-Oh had been played instead. There are only a handful of comments that pull out tried-and-true slurs.”I know it smells crazy in there“, but since it’s a powerful electronic show full of energy – it’s going to smell crazy with or without the Magic players.
