Fate 2: The Sorcerer Queen debuts a narrative-focused trailer
Tonight’s Game Awards rollout offered a fresh look at Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. For a number of months, we’ve known that the new expansion will change the status quo of power in the Destiny universe. Specifically, a Hive goddess named Savathûn seems to have found a way to grant Guardian-like powers to her Hive soldiers. Most importantly, it means that Hive enemies you defeat can come back to life after you take them down.
That’s the focus of tonight’s new video, which includes in-game footage showing a group of people taking on the Hive Knight Guardians, accompanied by a one-on-one interview between one of the Guardians. who was present, and Ikora Rey, in her role as a leader of the Vanguard. Fireteam seemingly destroys the Hive Knight, but then it comes back from the dead. The final fight must have taken a better turn, as the returning fireteam member had the remains of the Hive Ghost, but it’s clear that things didn’t go well during the mission.
After the trailer, we also learn that the trailer shown is from the opening mission of the new expansion.
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is set to release on all platforms on February 22. It’s been a long wait for a big new expansion, but the scope and drama of Savathûn’s big upcoming party makes us very excited.
