Recently Consumer Guide Car Stuff Podcast The conversation regarding the most popular auto brand tattoos is the reason for this post. As a podcast host, I challenged my co-hosts, Jill Ciminillo and Damon Bell, to name their hobby of “gun point” car tattoos.
I say “gun-point” because neither of them Jill neither Damon care about actually being written in ink — even with a cool car brand logo. Actually, I don’t want a tattoo either, and although I’ve come up with a few excellent candidate logos, I’m more open to the idea than I was initially.
Here’s the deal: If I’m really going to tattoo a car or two, the logos will have to be cool, but they’ll also have to be obscure — which can be confusing.

Five Awesome Car Logos — For Tattoos
Albion
Albion
The Albion brand is only obscured on this side of the pond. Once a Scottish heavy-duty truck builder and literally British “truck”, Albion caught my attention with the excellent lyrics of Mark Knopfler’s song Border Reiver. You can listen to the song this.
The Albion logo has marked the brand’s reputation for reliability, which has been dubbed “As Sure As The Sun Rises”. I assure you that almost no American you meet will know what your tattoo is.

Horch
Horch
This delightfully unassuming logo belongs to one of the four companies that will eventually become Audi. The opulence of the giant crown appeals to me, as does the brand’s reputation for luxury and sophistication. A word of caution: The Horch brand isn’t as opaque as Albion or Rumpler. Fun fact: In 2022, Audi is building a limited number of the super-premium Horch edition A8. These highly-anticipated Audis will feature the Horch logo, but will only be sold in China.
Maybach
Maybach
Now the Mercedes-Benz property, the Maybach name – and its wonderful double M logo – is steeped in rich history. Founded in 1909, Maybach is a division of legendary airship manufacturer Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH, the builder of the ill-fated city of Hindenburg.
Mercedes-Benz today sells premium versions of its cars under the Mercedes-Maybach banner. Even though there is a Mercedes association, most people probably won’t recognize your Maybach tattoo.
Rumpler
Rumpler
Translated from German, Tropfenwagen literally means drop wagon, which sounds a bit odd in English, but perfectly describes the look of this pioneering aerodynamic vehicle from World Aircraft manufacturer Rumpler first war. Moving on to automobiles after the war, Rumpler would only produce cars between 1921 and 1925—sadly the company was unable to find enough buyers for its affordable car. As for the logo, here are my first picks for the gun head tattoo; probably walking on my left biceps.

Tatra
Tatra
Americans were unaware of the amazing cars ever built by this innovative Czechoslovak auto builder. Although it’s a commercial truck maker today, the “streamlined” Tatras of the Thirties were sci-fi come to life. This logo was used by Tatra in that era. If forced, I would proudly wear this logo as a tattoo.
