Fury won’t take down Oleksandr Usyk if he beats Joshua in the rematch
Via Charles Brun: Tyson Fury is ready to fight unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk if he beats Anthony Joshua in their upcoming summer rematch.
Fury feels he is the man to beat Usyk (19-0, 13 Kos), but he says it won’t be cheap to make him retire to join this tough fight.
It’s unclear how motivated WBC champion Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) was against Usyk as it sounds like ‘The Gypsy King’ wants to cash out to get him back in the ring; that’s a sure sign that he doesn’t like the job.
When a boxer warns fans – and promoters – that it will be expensive to kick him off the sofa, it tells you that he is NOT eager to take the job.
It would be amazing that Fury and Usyk would fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship if that fight were to happen this year. However, that importance will pass through the heads of the casual boxing fan.
For casual fans, all they know is that Fury is fighting a little-known heavyweight, and they’re probably not going to buy the fight in high enough quantities to justify doing so. Tyson has a huge wallet.
For any job, it’s not boxing. When you put it the way, Fury is, that’s a red flag you don’t want.
In Fury’s case, you can’t blame him as Usyk is a horribly styled opponent, and he’s very likely to lose unless he slims down his frail physique to gain weight. that Tyson could move around like he used to.
Tyson Fury said: “When this middleweight beats this bodybuilder again, there will only be one man who can take out this absolute circus. Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotionabout his willingness to fight Usyk.
“You better have a big checkbook because to bring the big ‘GK’ (King of Gypsy) into retirement, it will cost dearly,” Fury said.
The cost of getting Fury out of the chair to fight Usyk can be very serious and far too high for it to be worth. If Fury’s asking price is $100 million for a fight with Usyk, I don’t think that will fly.
Even if Fury pits Joshua, $100 million might be too much, and that’s overkill if that’s what he’s expecting against Usyk, who isn’t a household name in the US or UK. .
You could argue that the amount Fury received for his final fight with Dillian Whyte would be reasonable for him to get in the fight with Usyk.
“I’m an award winning boxer and I fight for the prize, but there’s a price to pay if you want me to take on a mission in this middleweight and show you what a real heavyweight does with he.
“That will be expensive, you will have to have big bagsand we can even talk afterwards,” Fury said.
See what I mean by Fury doesn’t seem eager to fight Usyk?
