Lost Rochambeau when it’s time to choose a family destination? Is the rest of the group dreaming of swimming pools under the palm trees and singing karaoke on the main street while you’re nervous all week? While most people fantasize about vacations centered around drinks with little umbrellas, we car enthusiasts can find ideas to park for a week, even by the turquoise waters. effervescent blues of an infinity spa, less relaxing than dull. But don’t worry, because we’ve looked it up and can report that Palm Springs is more than just nostalgia for rats and skinny trees. Another thing to do with you hired Lamborghini. Some of Southern California’s best driving roads are near Palm Springs. For a short run in the mountains that will get you back at lunch, take Highway 74 to Idyllwild for coffee — the mayor was a golden retriever named Max. If you have all day, try State Route 79 to Temecula, then, cut south to State Route 76 and continue on to the coast. Return to 79th Street past Julian and pick up a cake to excuse your absence. Julian is famous for his apple pie, and for good reason.
Night Cruise El Paseo
Twice a month, Night Cruise El Paseo offers the classic cars for which Palm Springs is famous. It’s a moving auto show, with plenty of time to chat with owners in the parking lot and at the surrounding restaurants. If you miss the ride, there are still plenty of cars popping up all over town. Take a run through the neighborhoods on a Sunday morning and enjoy both the architecture and what’s in the open garage.
- Palm Springs Aviation Museum: Ok, not exactly cars, but if an electric SUV counts as a Mustang, so is the P-51. Not only is the aviation museum in town open daily, but you can also ride vintage warbirds or aircraft. Ask the rest of the family to wave from the pool, you’ll see them from the air.
- National Museum of Golf Carts: Hey, have a luxury car right now! Quickly browse through this small museum dedicated to small cars and spot rare items like the Cushman Gulfster or the Taylor-Dunn Tee Bird.
- Dirty Action: It’s not just the paved roads that are worth driving. Adventurers will find the Anza-Borrego area a place of wild delight. Bring everyone, rent ATVS, throw some dust. Set up a scavenger hunt for the awe of artist Ricardo Breceda steel dinosaurhorse and dragon in the desert.
- School day: It’s convenient when either BMW Performance Driving School in the US is located at the nearby Thermal Club racecourse. Spent the day cutting the top and having dinner on time. Now that’s a good stay.
