George RR Martin might be shocked to see what the characters on his Elden ring have become
Legendary writer George RR Martin teamed up with From Software and Hidetaka Miyazaki to create the myth of the world of the Elden ring before the catastrophic events of Shattering. The characters involved are often created as human, heroic but flawed in their journey and adventure. However, when From Software took on the task of transforming these characters into entities befitting of the Elden Ring, these mythological personalities and heroes were broken down into something more twisted and more believable. taking on the role of “monster boss”.
“When Martin wrote these characters, and when he provided the origin story that myths about the world of the Elden Ring, these demigods were much closer to their original form, and possibly closer to their original form. more human form then, before the Break, before it all began. . So it’s up to us to interpret this and say, ‘how did they become such inhuman monsters? And how did the frenzied stain of the shards of the Elden Ring and its power affect them? ‘ So it’s our mission to take these great heroes away and misalign their forms and distort them into something that doesn’t look like them,” said game director Hidetaka Miyazaki. “And I think if we had a chance to show Martin and if he had a chance to watch the game and see these characters, I think he might be a little bit shocked. When he wrote them, he actually envisioned something a little more human, a more traditional human drama and slightly more imaginative characters. So I hope he gets out of that.”
Miyazaki’s favorite Martin character in the game? A mysterious character named Rykard. We don’t have any other information about this personality right now other than the name, but they can be pretty silly.
“This process of taking these very human characters has flaws but is very dramatic, heroic and basically breaks them down and turns them into monstrous, grotesque monsters… That was very exciting for me. with me personally.”
Some of Martin’s characters combined with that signature boss-making technique that gave us elegant executioners like Sister Friede and giant monsters like Darkeater Midir is a recipe for greatness. . I have a feeling that the most epic boss encounters in From Software’s suite will have some stiff competition when the Elden Ring arrives.
