Germany to arm Ukraine with Patriot missiles
Germany and the US have both agreed to equip Ukraine with modern PATRIOT air defense systems.
Ukraine bought the Patriot missile defense system and dozens of Marder combat vehicles from Germany. This was agreed upon by Prime Minister Olaf Scholz and US President Joe Biden in a phone call on Thursday evening.
German Ambassador to the US Emily Haber also confirmed that Germany will supply the Marder infantry fighting vehicle with Patriot system to Ukraine.

“US President Biden and Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Olaf Scholz are determined to provide Ukraine with the necessary assistance, for as long as it is needed,” she said.
Patriot is a surface-to-air guided missile system that was first deployed in the 1980s and can target aircraft, cruise missiles, and short-range ballistic missiles.
Each Patriot battery consists of a truck-mounted launch system with eight launchers, each of which can hold four interceptors, a ground radar, a control station, and a generator.
The Marder 1 is a German infantry fighting vehicle designed for use by West German Panzergrenadiere units (motorized infantry specialized in fighting IFVs).
