Gervonta Davis Vs. Ryan Garcia in April on DAZN & Showtime Pay Per View
Via Brian Webber: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has revealed he will be taking part in a prep bout against a still-to-be-determined opponent on January 7, followed by a 136 lb weight class clash with Ryan Garcia in April.
According to Mike Coppinger, the Tank vs Ryan fight will take place in April in a pay-per-view match in Las Vegas on DAZN & Showtime.
It’s great news that Showtime is willing to let DAZN share the broadcast to make the Tank-Ryan fight a reality because without that, it wouldn’t have happened.
Professional and casual boxing fans who appreciate Ryan Garcia will be delighted when he takes on Gervonta Davis next, but it won’t be highly competitive.
In order for Tank to be in a competitive match, he must be pitted against the best of the light crop Devin Haney, Shakur Stevenson, Michel Rivera and Vasyl Lomachenko. Ryan is still too green to consider this a 50-50 case, especially given how vulnerable he looks to being teased by Luke Campbell.
I’ll be back in the ring on January 7th, stay tuned for more details! Then Ryan and I signed the delivery…done!

This is one of a series of bouts involving a proven boxer in Gervonta (27-0.25 KOs), with world titles won in three weight classes against an inexperienced boxer. experience/type of boxer on social media Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs). ).
It has the mismatch written all over, but it will probably be competitive. The best wins of Ryan’s career were against lackluster veterans Luke Campbell and Javier Fortuna.
Aside from those two, Ryan hasn’t fought anyone worth mentioning, which is why it’s impossible to know how he’ll do against Tank Davis as he’s supposed to not be challenging for the world title with a weak track record. your chili.
As for Tank’s January 7 fight, it will take place in Washington, D.C. and already has several fighters mentioned as his potential enemies. One of the names mentioned was 34-year-old featherweight boxer Gary Russell Jr, who was about to lose to Mark Magsayo and suffered a shoulder injury.
For Russell Jr to fight Tank, he needed to gain two weight classes and make it through training camp without injuring his shoulder.
Given the amount of money Russell Jr will receive for the fight, it wouldn’t be surprising if he fought Gervonta with only one good arm and was defeated in a non-competitive bout.
Ideally, Tank should be fighting someone in the 135 or 140 pound instead of fighting for the 126 pound to find another little guy for him to beat like we’ve seen in his devastating wins. him before Leo Santa Cruz and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
It would be great to see Tank face-to-face with one of these fighters:
- Gary Antuanne Russell
- Teofimo López
- Vasyl Lomachenko
- Michel Rivera
- Shakur Stevenson
- Jose Ramírez
- Subriel Matias
