Via Jim Calfa: Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez said he plans to put relentless pressure on WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol to dethrone him on November 5 at Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.
Ramirez (44-0.30 KOs) believes he can take out Bivol (21-0.10 KOs) with high pressure and work rate to get their championship win on DAZN.
However, it won’t be easy to complete as Bivol is fast and he could prove to be an elusive target for 12 rounds.
Ramirez, 31, has never been particularly quick on his feet, even when he is campaigning as a super-middleweight. But in the last three years, since moving up to 175th, Zurdo Ramirez has stalled due to the weight he puts on his 6’2″ frame.
“Raise my hand and take the belt,” said Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez Against TV Hub when asked how his fight with Dmitry Bivol ended. “I’ll be looking for him all night, I’ll throw my fists.and I’ll take the belt.
“That’s right,” Zurdo Ramirez said when asked if he would become a “killer” against Bivol. “It’s great for me to be in Abu Dhabi to see [WBA 175-lb] belts, and we are gentlemen. We knew each other and knew it was going to be a good fight.
“We will give a great performance to all the fans in Abu Dhabi. It will be really interesting because I am bigger than him and stronger. It will be difficult for him, but I think it will be an interesting fight.
“I want the belt,” Ramirez said when asked what he thought of the match against Bivol. “We know each other. We laughed and talked. It was great.
“We did many rounds [sparring]. I’m happy about that, and I’m happy to fight him. It will be an interesting fight for everyone. The best must fight the best, and in this fight, everyone deserves it.
“The timeframe will be different. Jet lag. That’s the only thing that will be different. I will bring every skill that I have and good vibes. Each fighter is different and tough in their own way. I will enjoy the night and bring back the title for Mexico.
“It was a great opportunity for me, and I am very happy about it. I will conquer the league,” Ramirez said.
