Every day, IU Health Department of Public Safety (DPS) officials ensure the safety of team members, patients, and visitors in each facility. Recently, three Indianapolis Subsidiaries (ISR) officers went above and beyond in their training—bringing their knowledge back to their region and opening the door to other officers.
Congratulations to Deputy Sheriff Chase Broad (pictured at right, with IU Health North and Saxony) on completing the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Leadership Academy program.
It is a challenging and highly accredited program consisting of a four-week (160-hour) leadership course covering a variety of leadership topics. He, along with three others, became the first IU Health DPS leader to take this course, opening the door for others to continue to grow.
Broad also completed the Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) certification administered by the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS). The purpose of the program is to provide the highest level of IAHSS certification for healthcare security professionals with management responsibilities. The designation is given to those who meet the eligibility criteria and pass a comprehensive exam.
And congratulations to Deputy Sheriff Rob Herren (pictured left, with IU Health North and Tipton) and Captain Kurt Oosterlinck, Director of Public Safety (centre in the photo, with IU Health West) , who recently attended the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association’s Supervisory Leadership Academy.
This is a week-long program built for mid-level supervisors and managers, with the goal of enhancing their leadership capabilities. Attendees engage in personality diagnostics, leadership case studies, mentoring, team development, performance management, risk management, and reputation. This is the first time that DPS members have attended leadership training at this level.
Congratulations to these DPS team members!
