Google will give all employees worldwide a one-time $1600 bonus this year
San Francisco:
Alphabet Inc’s Google on Wednesday said it will reward its employees globally this year, as the tech giant pushes back on plans to return to the office.
Google will be offering all employees, including its expanding workforce and interns, a one-time cash bonus of $1,600 or equivalent in their country this month, a company spokesman told Reuters.
The latest benefit is in addition to work-from-home benefits and welfare bonuses, to support its employees during the coronavirus pandemic, the spokesperson said, without giving details of the total. the amount set forth by the company for this purpose.
In early March, Google’s internal survey showed that their employee status had declined over the past year, after which the company announced a series of benefits, including a $500 cash bonus.
Last week, Google indefinitely delayed its plans to return to its offices amid concerns about the Omicron variant and some employee protests over vaccinations mandated by the company. Previously, employees were expected to return to the office from January 10.
