Today, a video of him talking about his recent meeting with the Prime Minister has been widely shared on social media. “Recently, when I went to see the Prime Minister on peasant issues, I fought for five minutes… I told him that 500 people had died… He asked – ‘They died because I have not?'”

Member of Parliament Mallikarjun Kharge tweeted the video with harsh comments: “Governor Sri Satya Pal Malik of Meghalaya is on record saying that the Prime Minister was ‘arrogant’ about the Peasants and HM Amit Shah has called the Prime Minister a ‘madman’. Constitutional authorities are speaking about each other with disdain! Narendra Modiji is this true?” “

When the comments created a huge uproar, Mr. Malik, within hours, offered clarification.
“The prime minister was not willing to listen… He tried to dismiss my concerns… and said ‘let’s meet Amit Shah’. Amit Shah has great respect for Modi ji. He told me that everyone misunderstood the Prime Minister.” The prime minister will understand this (farmers’ compliance with the three laws)”, I said. I would like to clarify that Mr. Shah did not say anything about the Prime Minister with malice. He just told me that my concerns would be understood,” he told NDTV.
In November, just days before farmers marked a year of protest against three controversial laws, Prime Minister Modi apologized in a speech to the nation and said the three laws would be revoked.
Critics say the crackdown comes just before elections in five states, including Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, where the problem has flared since 2020.
Mr Malik told NDTV today: “Modi ji rescinded the law when he understood the concerns.
“But better late than never. The BJP should not be rigid in its approach. The Prime Minister’s repeal of the law … now everyone has accepted it.
To the opposition parties interested in his comments, he had only one message – “This is an internal matter. Congress should not jump into this and get involved in politics.”
