The highly anticipated group auction for the second season of Badminton Grand Prix (GPBL 2023) came to a dramatic conclusion on Saturday with the bidding taking place online.
The auction saw an unprecedented level of excitement and fierce competition as bids were invited for 10 teams from a choice of 13 cities/states – Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kerala, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Lucknow, Orissa, Kolkata, Rajasthan and North East. Eight teams have been sold and decisions regarding two of the teams will be made soon.
Auction team for GPBL season 2, organized through an online platform, provided a convenient and comprehensive platform for team owners and badminton enthusiasts to participate from all over India as the tenders poured in. to win trade rights for coveted teams. The online auction has seen intense bidding wars as team owners strategize and compete to win their favorite City teams. Franchise Bengaluru collects the maximum fee while Chennai comes in second. Other teams that have been sold include Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Kerala, Gujarat (Ahmedabad) and Delhi.
Teams are currently focused on preparing, refining their strategies for the upcoming Player Auction to be held in the third week of this month. Up to 453 players including 67 registered international players, of which, about 150 will be included in the Players’ Draft.
