Harvestella combines action role-playing with laid-back farm life this November
Harvestella is Square Enix’s new RPG that meets farming simulation announced during the Nintendo Direct Mini today.
The game takes place in a world where the four seasons are controlled by four giant crystals known as Seaslights. But the cycle is interrupted by an unusual event that creates a “season of death” known as Quietus, causing crops to wither and threaten all life.
Harvestella’s gameplay splits its time between action-focused dungeon crawling and laid-back farm management. Globetrot players travel to regions representing the four seasons to battle monsters and explore dungeons. You can even hop into a submarine to traverse the oceans. Combat involves performing team maneuvers with party members, and each character can be equipped with different jobs that give them unique characteristics, skills, and fighting styles.
When you are not fighting for the survival of the world, you will return to your village to take care of your farm. Farming and livestock allows you to harvest materials for crafting. Once the job is done, socializing with the townspeople is another important avenue. Along the way, you’ll meet a cast of characters like time travelers from the future and completing quests for them will grant rewards and improve your relationship with them.
Harvestella looks appealing and we can’t wait to see more of it. It’s not far off either, launching on November 4th for Switch and PC via Steam.
