Honor Magic V foldable phone set to launch on January 10, will feature complex hinge technology
The Honor Magic V foldable smartphone could be launched on January 10, as claimed by a tip. The Chinese company has confirmed that it will soon introduce its first foldable phone. A report has suggested that the flagship will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, making it the first foldable phone with the latest Snapdragon chipset. Recently, Huawei, the former parent company of Honor, launched the foldable phone P50 Pocket with Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 4G SoC in China.
According to a tweet by Teme (@RODENT950), the Honor Magic V smartphone will launch on January 10 in China. No further information is available on the specifications of the smartphone.
However, in a short video shared of Honor China on Weibo, Honor CEO Zhao Ming talked about Honor Magic V. He speak (rough translation) that the screen of the foldable phone will be the best folding screen on the market with “the most complete structural design”. The CEO claims that the Honor Magic V has complex hinge technology and that the optimization will be done at the software level.
Ming said that some manufacturers have produced smaller folding screens, violating the original intention of folding phones. Honor Magic V is expected to adopt a dual-screen design. The internal screen can be 8 inches and the external secondary screen can be 6.5 inches.
Recently, other Chinese smartphone companies Huawei and Oppo launched their foldable handset. Huawei has launched Huawei P50 Pocket smartphone and Oppo revealed Oppo Find Women in the Chinese market.
