I’m Celebrity has announced celebrity contestants for this year’s series, with stars from the worlds of pop, international football and soap in the 2021 group.
NS ITV the show will be returning to Gwrych Castle for a second season after the uncertainty surrounding international travel meant the producers couldn’t be sure they’d be able to return to the Australian jungle.
Ant and Dec returns as presenter again, taking the new group of celebrities through their steps in the Welsh castle – check out the 2021 list below.
Dame Arlene Phillips
Dame Arlene became a household name in the UK when she starred in the first series of Seriously to Dancing as a judge in 2004.
She then left in 2008 and went on to work on shows like Britannia High and So You Think You Can Dance?
She is also an acclaimed theater choreographer and director, and has starred in shows such as We Will Rock You, Starlight Express and Saturday Night Fever.
At 78, she’s the oldest contestant on I’m a Celebrity – but saying that won’t hold her back.
Danny Miller
Miller has played Aaron Dingle in Emmerdale since 2008.
He was part of several major storylines in the film, including themes of child sexual assault, car accidents, and robberies.
Miller has also appeared in Grange Hill, Scott & Bailey and Cruel Summer.
David Ginola
There aren’t many sports fans in the world who don’t know who David Ginola is – the French football legend who has played for teams like Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle, Spurs, Aston Villa and Everton.
Since then, he’s become a regular on BBC, BT Sport and CNN, as well as the French version of Seriously Come Dancing.
He has also worked as a model and an actor.
Frankie’s Bridge
Bridge was part of the girl band The Saturday for seven years, with hits including Up, Ego and Higher.
Before that, she was a member of S Club Juniors, an offshoot of S Club 7.
Following her music career, the singer went on to marry soccer player Wayne Bridge, a former contestant, she presented TV shows and spoke openly about mental health.
Kadeena Cox MBE
A decorated British Paralympic athlete, Cox has medals for both sprinting and cycling at the game – including gold.
Suffering from multiple sclerosis, she broke the track world record and represented Great Britain in two matches.
Away from the track and the stadium, she won this year’s Celebrity Masterchef.
Louise Minchin
Journalist and presenter Minchin recently left the BBC Breakfast sofa after 20 years on the flagship programme.
She has had a long career at the BBC, which has also included projects such as Sunday Life, The One Show and coverage of the Olympics.
Minchin said that she hopes her time living in the castle will show her cheerful side after becoming known as a “serious news presenter”.
Matty Lee
Diver Lee took home a gold medal with Tom Daley in the 10-meter synchronized event at the Tokyo Olympics in early 2021.
The 23-year-old said participating in I’m a Celebrity helps mark another life goal.
“Nothing prepares you for what life will be like after you do well in the Olympics,” he said. “I was and mostly still am in shock because I was doing I’m a Celebrity. My two childhood dreams were to win an Olympic medal and be in my favorite TV series. And now I’m doing it. do both of these this year!”
Naughty boy
As a DJ, songwriter and producer, Naughty Boy has worked with some of the biggest names in pop music, including Beyonce and Sam Smith.
The star, whose real name is Shahid Khan, thinks his background in working with artists will help him benefit from entering the camp.
“I’d love to see more musicians go into the castle in this series, Sir Elton John would be unbelievable,” he said. “We (musicians) are more equipped than people think because we spend so much time in the studio.”
Richard Madeley
As one half of Richard and Judy, there wasn’t a lot of light entertainment that Madeley couldn’t get into.
He hosted This Morning with his wife Judy Finnigan from 1988 to 2001 before moving on to their own show, Richard and Judy on Channel 4. The pair hosted quiz and talk shows, making appearances. on comedy shows and even as a contestant on reality shows.
Madeley said I’m A Celebrity … has “become a fabric of British life and part of the countdown to Christmas”, which is why he wanted to participate.
Snoochie Shy
BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Snoochie Shy landed late at night on the station two years ago.
Fellow and fellow DJ Jordan North was runner-up on I’m A Celebrity… last year, so she’s following in his footsteps.
The 29-year-old said she was looking forward to hearing more about her.
“I’m actually a pretty shy person when I’m out of my comfort zone,” she says. “I think my shy side can show and I can be quite shy the first few days but I will definitely be a team player.”
