India reports 8,318 new cases, 21% lower than yesterday

India has seen a single-day rise of 8,318 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country’s total to 3,45,63,749, while active cases fell to 1,07,019 , the lowest in 541 days, according to the Union Health Ministry. Data updated today.
The death toll has risen to 4,67,933 with 465 deaths daily, according to data updated at 8 am.
The daily increase in new coronavirus infections is less than 20,000 for 50 consecutive days, and less than 50,000 new daily infections have been reported for 153 consecutive days.
Active cases fell to 1,07,019, representing 0.31% of total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the nationwide COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.34 %, the highest since March 2020, the Health Ministry said.
A decrease of 3,114 cases in active COVID-19 downloads was recorded over a 24-hour period.
The recorded daily positivity rate is 0.86%. It has been less than 2% in the past 54 days.
The weekly positive rate was also recorded at 0.88%. According to the Ministry of Health, this number has stayed below 1% for the past 13 days.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease skyrocketed to 3,39,88,797 people, while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.35%.
Cumulative doses administered in the country to date under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive have exceeded 121.06 crore.
India’s COVID-19 tally passed the 200,000 mark on August 7, 2020, 30,000 on August 23, 40,000 on September 5, and 500,000 on September 16.
It crossed 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20, and crossed the one-cent mark on December 19.
India passed the grim milestone of two crore coronavirus infections on May 4 and three crore cases on June 23.
