India’s construction workers bear the brunt of the heatwave
Thousands of Indians are reeling under a brutal heatwave that has swept the country.
Several areas of the capital Delhi have recorded temperatures of 49°C.
But life has been hardest for the working poor – many of the country’s unorganized sector – who are struggling to cope with rising temperatures.
With no other means of livelihood, they struggled all day in sweltering heat to ensure that they and their families did not starve.
