John Wick: Chapter 4 Release date delayed to 2023, Lionsgate shares new trailer
The John Wick: Chapter 4 release date has been pushed back to March 2023, Lionsgate has announced. The Keanu Reeves-led action film is expected to premiere a year later than its previous release date of May 27, 2022. John Wick: Chapter 4 has been set to release alongside Top Gun: Maverick starred Tom Cruise in May. The latest delay comes shortly after a recent increase in the number of Omicron variant coronavirus infections recorded around the world, affecting businesses including Hollywood.
Lionsgate announced a new release date for John Wick: Chapter 4 in a trailer posted on the company’s social media channels on Wednesday with the words “Meet You”. While Lionsgate hasn’t revealed the specific reason for the film’s delay, it looks like the film could be pushed to 2023 as production has stopped and has yet to resume in Japan, according to a source report by Deadline says the film is being shot around the world.
The upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4, led by Keanu Reeves, stars Bill Skarsgård, Donnie Yen, Ian McShane, and Laurence Fishburne. The film was produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee and written by Michael Finch and Shay Hatten. The first three films in the series, which grossed over $580 million (approximately Rs 4,360) worldwide, were directed by Chad Stahelski, who will also return for John Wick: Chapter 4.
As mentioned earlier, John Wick: Chapter 4 was previously scheduled for release on May 27, 2022, which will pit it against another much-awaited movie – Top Gun: Maverick. With a new release date of March 24, 2023, the film is expected to go head-to-head with Sony’s untitled George Foreman biopic, Deadline reports.
