Two weeks before he was due to report to federal prison to serve a 15-month sentence, convicted Massachusetts-based drug maker Jordan Fishman who manufactured illegal substances was then injected racehorse, asked the judge to delay his report by a month. .
Reason? More than 2 and a half months later his judgmentThe Bureau of Prisons has yet to tell Fishman which facility he must turn himself in on May 9.
Fishman also wants the judge to consider pandemic-related health concerns that would give him an extra month of freedom.
Patrick Jouyce, Fishman’s attorney, articulated his client’s concerns in a one-page letter filed April 25 in the United States District Court (Southern District of New York).
“I also regret to inform the Court that Jordan’s ex-wife, with whom he works nearby at his business, has just contracted COVID-19 and most likely, Defendant has also contracted the disease although as of today, he has tested negative. For these reasons, Defendant respectfully requests the Court to postpone the date of Jordan’s surrender to June 9, 2022.
In October, Fishman, 64, pleaded guilty to one count of adultery and mislabeling purported performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs).
Jordan Fishman is not related to – but has a professional working relationship with – Seth Fishman, a convicted veterinarian who is awaiting sentencing and faces 20 years in prison for his role in the conspiracy to horse doping.
Lisa Giannelli, an assistant to Seth Fishman, is expected to appear in court at the same time as Seth Fishman in January. But her case was declared a mistake after her attorney tested positive for COVID-19. Her new trial begins April 27.
