Via Charles Brun: Promoter Ben Shalom says the rematch between WBO lightweight champions Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will be announced in a week or two for Sky pay-per-view.
The rumored date for the Taylor-Catterall 2 rematch is February 4 in the UK. Shalom felt that the fight required it to be pay-per-view, but apparently, many boxing fans would disagree.
If Taylor were up against someone like Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis, or Teofimo Lopez, it would be a pay-per-view fight, but NOT Catterall.
Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) has been out of action since beating Catterall (27-1, 13 KOs) with a questionable 12th split decision last February in Glasgow, Scotland.
31-year-old Taylor has talked about advancing to 147, but for some reason he’s dragging his feet, wasting time by fighting less opponents at 140 instead of competing best in the welder weight class.
Catterall is a decent domestic level boxer, but if you threw him into the ring with a quality 14o or 147-pound boxer like Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Regis Prograis or Jose Zepeda, that would be madness. crazy.
The fact that Taylor can’t beat Catterall with a precise decision shows how flawed he is as a boxer.

“We’re trying not to pose a pay-per-view issue. If you look at our schedule for this year, I think there are only two pay-per-views on Sky. Although there are a lot of great shows, we are trying to limit pay per view.
“Sometimes you have to do what you have to do and the prices won’t go up on Sky like they are now. It will always be £20, but ultimately, we did what we could this year to avoid too many pay-per-views to create a lot of value.
