Thereafter, Akhtar’s attorney, Jay Bharadwaj, appealed that an unavailability warrant be issued against Bollywood actress for not appearing in court many times. However, her advocate Rizwan Siddiquee appeared for the actress and said that she will appear before the court on July 4. The case will now be heard at 4pm on the 4th of May. 7.
According to reports, Kangana also sought to have no media present when Judge recorded her statement.
This case dates back to 2020, when Javed Akhtar filed a defamation complaint against Kangana. Following the untimely death of Sushant Singh Rajput in June 2020, Kangana Ranaut is said to have said in an interview that the noted lyricist belonged to Bollywood’s “suicide gang” who pushed the “outsiders” like her come to end their lives. Soon after, Javed Akhtar filed a defamation complaint against Kangana at the Magistrates’ Court.
Kangana has also filed a new extortion complaint against Akhtar, which the court will hear only after Ranaut appears in court and issues her statement.
