Two years after his debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2We finally know who is speaking Shadow of the hedgehog in Paramount's live-action films. Keanu Reeves's Matrix, Cyberpunk 2077, And John Wick fame is voicing Ultimate Lifeform in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Reeves has been a fan favorite for the role for a while, but rumors of his actual involvement began circulating this morning after the podcaster John Campea said he was told he would play blue Blur's rival at Cinemacon, where the first trailer of the movie was released. Currently, Hollywood Reporter confirmed with his own source that fans will hear Reeves' deep voice coming out of Shadow's mouth when Sonic the Hedgehog 3 opens on December 20.
Shadow first debuted in live-action films in Sonic the Hedgehog 2his post-credits scene, in which he wakes up from cryostasis. Based on descriptions from the Cinemacon trailer (which has yet to be released to the public as of this writing), Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik will play a role in breaking him out of prison just like he did in Audio Adventure 2Shadow game is out. Because the movie will also be there Maria Robotnika young girl who plays an important role in Shadow's past, it seems for the most part Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be based on the 2001 Dreamcast game, although certain aspects of the character, including his use of a motorbike that began in the 2005 game of the same name, will also be part of the film.
Before Sonic the Hedgehog 3 launches in December, Paramount+ will launch one series based on Knuckles, which will take place between both films. This is part of a larger effort to create sound movie into a universe like Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hopefully they won't oversaturate the market with too many shitty franchises like superhero franchises, though.
