KOTOR 2 DLC Abandoned on Switch, Devs Apologize With Free Games
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 on Switch was a mess from the start. Like the buggy and incomplete release of the original game back to 2004Nintendo’s hybrid handheld adaptation last year came out with a bug that made the game Unbeatable for some players. Next patches more problems. And now, players will no longer receive the previously promised free Recovery Content DLC.
The studio behind the portal, Aspyr, delivered bad news Friday night, telling the game’s Switch owners that the update will add support for a bunch of fan-made mods to fix some certain errors and completeness KOTOR 2The character’s and raw endings were unfortunately canceled. It’s essentially the unofficial “final cut” of Obsidian Entertainment’s excellent RPG, and Switch players will now essentially miss it, despite the fact that it’s already marketed earlier along with the port’s 2022 release.
“Sadly, today we announce that DLC Content Recovery for the Nintendo Switch version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – Lord Sith will not be moving forward for release,” the studio tweeted on June 2. “We want to thank everyone for continuing to support by providing free video game keys to players who have purchased Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords on Nintendo Switch prior to this announcement.”
Affected games that players can choose from include the following Star Wars Aspyr ports worked on:
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – Lord Sith (COMPUTER)
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Switch)
- Star Wars: The Force of Liberation (Switch)
- Star Wars: Republic Commando (Switch)
- Star Wars: Episode I Riders (Switch)
- Star Wars: Jedi . Knight Academy (Switch)
- Star Wars: Jedi II Jedi Knight Outcast (Switch)

The first game on the list is the PC version of KOTOR 2 which do includes the recovery content DLC, though if you only own a Switch that won’t do you much good. And like some players have pointed out, it’s unclear how the studio will make up for those who probably already owns all of these games, when it comes to Star Wars fans is not a completely improbable scenario.
Looks like things aren’t going Aspyr’s way at the moment. Austin-based studio behind a bunch of other great movies Star Wars port and remake have been purchased by Embracer for $450 million in 2021. That same year, it announced a remake of the first season. Knights of the Old Republic at the PS5 showcase instantly create loads of excitement. One year later Bloomberg report that the project has got into trouble and will be moved to a brand new studio under the Embracer umbrella.
When asked about the state of the game at the parent company’s recent earnings presentation, CEO Lars Wingefors replied exasperatedly “no comment.”
