LeBron James spills the blood of Detroit Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart with a headshot as they’re both ejected after the ensuing controversy
DIGEST – LeBron James was pushed out Los Angeles Lakers‘121-116 won first Piston on Sunday for Detroit’s big man standout Isaiah Stewart in the face while jostling for a recovery position.
The blow resulted in the shutdown while Stewart, with blood running down his face, had to be stopped several times by Detroit staff as he attempted to confront James. The crash came with 9:18 left in the third inning and the Lakers were leading 79-67.
Stewart was initially whistled for loose play. After the official assessment, James was rated for gross foul 2 and ejected, Stewart was rated for two technical fouls and was ejected and the Lakers guard Russell Westbrook was called for due to a technical error.
It only marked the second in James’ 19-year career. The first came on November 28, 2017, against Miami Heat.
LA entered the 4th half down 15 points but came back to improve to 9-9 in the season. Their five-game road trip continues with Tuesday’s matches against New York Knicks and fourth against Indiana Pacers.
Detroit fell to 4-12 with the loss.
