Lionel Richie Receives Icon Award at Tribute AMAs

And he has many good reasons to: In time American Music Awards 2022 on November 20th, the legendary singer was honored with the critically acclaimed Icon Award. In addition to receiving the honor, the 73-year-old was also honored with a touching performance by Stevie wondered, Charlie Puth and Ari Lennox.
During their time on stage, Stevie and Charlie performed several of his hits, including “Say You, Say Me,” “All Night Long” and “Easy.” Ari was among many other stars who took the stage to sing “We Are the World”, such as Melissa Etheridge, Jimmie Allen, Smoke Robinson, Long Muni, Dustin Lynch and yola.
Lionel—whose impressive career in the music industry spans more than five decades and continues to grow—was also reflected in his journey as he took to the stage to accept his trophy. “I started here at the AMAs,” he said. “And my career, to this day 40 years later, I’ve returned to the AMAs.”
