MP Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena on Sunday announced West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is intending a coalition to exclude Parliament.
Mr Raut in the weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ on Sena’s Saamana mouthpiece also claimed Ms Banerjee had said that her party the Trinamool Congress (TMC) would not be examining the political waters of Maharashtra.
Notably, the TMC leadership on Saturday said it would continue to build an alternative front as Congress “cannot lead the fight” against the BJP.
Ms. Banerjee on a recent visit to Mumbai made a cryptic statement that “there is no UPA now”.
On Friday, TMC mouthpiece ‘Jago Bangla’ launched a fresh attack on Congress, saying it went into a “deep freezer”.
Recently, ‘Jago Bangla’ has also stated that Mamata Banerjee, not Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, has emerged as the face of opposition against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Mr Raut, whose party shares power with the NCP and Parliament in Maharashtra, said on Sunday it “seems like Banerjee is contemplating something new except Parliament”.
He also stated that during a meeting with Shiv Sena leader and state minister Aaditya Thackeray here a few days ago, she told the latter that “we will not come here because Shiv Sena and the NCP are very strong”.
Member Rajya Sabha noted that the TMC will conduct the upcoming Council votes in neighboring Goa and is also expanding its wings in the northeastern states of Tripura and Meghalaya.
He said that during her visit to Mumbai, Ms. Banerjee discussed with Aaditya Thackeray about tourism and cultural exchange between the two states.
Ms. Raut, executive editor of Saamana, said that she was looking for land to build the Bengal Bhavan in Mumbai to create conditions for patients to have a place to stay when they come for treatment here, especially at the hospital. Tata cancer.
“The two states share an emotional bond that dates back to history,” said leader Shiv Sena.
He also said Ms. Banerjee invited Aaditya Thackeray for the upcoming Kolkata International Film Festival.
On Saturday, Saamana said that keeping Congress away from national politics and creating a parallel opposition coalition with the UPA without it was like reinforcing the ruling BJP and “fascist” forces.
The Marathi daily also said those who do not want the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) should make their position public, rather than create confusion by talking behind their backs.
During their visit to Mumbai, Aaditya Thackeray and Raut met Ms. Banerjee on behalf of Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who is currently recovering from cervical spine surgery.
