Man United agree deal with Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez
Manchester United agreed an agreement to sign Lisandro Martinez from the Eredivisie champions Ajaxthe club announced on Sunday.
Martinez will sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford to reunite with former manager Erik ten Hag in an initial €57.37 million deal, which could rise to €67.37 million through variables. The move is subject to medical care.

A statement from United said: “Manchester United is delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Argentine international defender Lisandro Martinez, subject to medical, player terms and conditions. is being finalized and UK visa requirements.”
ESPN previously reported The 24-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League with United as his preferred destination. Sources told ESPN that a breakthrough had been made and Martinez turned down interest from Arsenal.
Martinez can play in defense and midfield, both areas of the squad that Ten Hag wants to strengthen. Martinez made 118 appearances for the Dutch champions after joining the club in 2019. He became Ten Hag’s third signing the following summer. Tyrell Malacia join from Feyenoord and Christian Eriksen moved to Old Trafford after spending the second half of last season in Brentford.
After completing the transfer for Martinez, United will continue their efforts to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, but sources told ESPN that De Jong still needs to be persuaded to move.
United are still certain the Dutch international is open to joining the club, but according to sources, his representatives are still trying to encourage Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea to join the bid.
De Jong would rather join a Champions League club if he had to leave Barcelona, although his preference is to stay at Camp Nou despite La Liga’s insistence that he move to help the club. to deal with their financial problems.
