Manchester United name Ralf Rangnick as interim manager
Manchester United Sources to ESPN are in talks to appoint Ralf Rangnick as the club’s interim manager until the end of the season.
Rangnick, 63, is set to leave his role as head of development and sport at Lokomotiv Moscow and sign a six-month contract at Old Trafford.
Sources close to Rangnick initially separated him from his role at Old Trafford when contacted by ESPN following Solskjaer’s departure. Sources added a breakthrough was reached when a consulting role was offered as part of Rangnick’s move to the club. The exact terms of the advisory role are yet to be determined but Rangnick is expected to stay at United once his interim term ends.
United have yet to officially confirm whether Rangnick will be involved but a source added that talks are already at an advanced stage.

The German is unlikely to be in charge of Sunday’s Premier League match against the leaders Chelsea for work permit reasons, but his first game as a coach could be against Arsenal on 2 December.
United have been looking for an interim manager since sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a humiliating 4-1 defeat at Watford last week.
Former midfielder Michael Carrick is now in charge of looking after and guiding them to a 2-0 win at Villarreal on Tuesday to secure a spot in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Sources told ESPN that United held talks with the former Barcelona manage Ernesto Valverde while Lucien Favre, formerly in Borussia Dortmund, is also on their list.
Paris Saint-Germain Coach Mauricio Pochettino is United’s long-term target, according to ESPN sources, but the club There was an initial inquiry into his immediate availability that was dropped.
Sources add that Pochettino will be interested in the vacant position at Old Trafford but under a contract in Paris until 2023 after signing an extension in the summer.
